Hair of the Dog meeting postponed

The ongoing rain during Friday’s Snake Gully Cup meeting and Friday night finally caught up with Gundagai Adelong Race Club with Racing NSW announcing the postponement of their Hair of the Dog Cup meeting earlier today.

The wet weather finally caught up with Gundagai Adelong Race Club on Saturday, with their Hair of the Dog meeting postponed due to the state of the track.

Following Friday’s Snake Gully Cup meeting, which saw an eight-race-program proceed in heavy conditions, more rain fell on Friday night, leaving water on the track.

“Today’s (Saturday) Gundagai meeting has been postponed due to wet weather,” a Racing NSW statement said.

“They raced on a Heavy 10 yesterday and received a further 13mm since the last race.

“There is surface water at the 1200m and 1400m and currently light rain is falling.”

Gundagai Adelong Race Club President Mick Crowe explained that it was a tough decision to abandon the second day of their two-day carnival, with the club and Racing NSW originally planning to race following the conclusion of Friday’s Snake Gully Cup meeting.

“We were half a chance of racing this morning, but this rain kept going over night and it just got too wet, and the rain finally beat us,” Crowe said.

Racing NSW are yet to announce a new date for the Hair of the Dog Cup meeting.
